Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHE CHAMMARTIN (nee BOURRIER) Peacefully, on November 18, 2006 with family by her side, Marthe passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Denise (Nestor), Guy (Janice), Marcel, Carole (Scott) and Jacques (Valdine); along with 17 grandchildren, Jenna (Kurt), Max, Joseph (Kellie), Madeline (Ryan), Matthew (Lynne), Danielle (Chris), Sarah, Misty, Laura, Suzie, Grant, Bradley, Anne (Matt), Tom, Joel, Renee, and Riel, as well as five great-grandchildren, Elena, Sophie, Grace, Noah and Jax. Mom was very close to her five sisters, Irene, Therese, Emerance (Andy), Emma (Don), and Marina (Ron); and also appreciated her ties to extended family members and friends including sisters-in-law, Isabelle and Rose; brothers-in-law, Ted and Andy, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her brothers, Antoine and Leon, and two years ago by her cherished husband Pierre. Mom grew up on a farm near St. Lupicin, Manitoba, in the area of the Pembina Hills. She had many fond memories of her childhood, and in later years enjoyed reminiscing about her brothers' mischievous antics, working and playing with her sisters and picking bunches of wildflowers for her parents on her way home from school. She met Dad at a community dance as a young teenager, and by age 19 became his bride. They were married for 56 years and lived, worked, raised their family and retired in old St. Boniface. Mom worked at the St. Boniface Hospital as a health care aide, and continued to volunteer there for years after retirement. As a couple, Mom and Dad enjoyed backyard barbecues, bowling, weekends at the lake, gardening, playing cards, and always a lot of music at family gatherings. Mom took an avid interest in the activities of her children and grandchildren, and attended many performances at school concerts, plays and at the Festival du Voyageur. We appreciate all the love and support Mom gave over the years and will miss her dearly. Our family would like to thank the staff of the Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care throughout Mom's hospital stay. The family would like to suggest that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 26331 STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 4R1. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 23, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St. Interment of the cremated will take place at a later date in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Mom had two lives. Caring for her family and caring for herself. I admire her for that. - Posted by: marcel (son) on: Jul 27, 2012
